1.  Go to the website of the Division of Adolescent and School Health in the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov/healthyyouth).  Click on the SHER (School Health Resource) link under the heading of the School Health. (www.cdc.gov/healthyyouth/sher)

2.  Go to CDC’s School Health Education Resources link (www.cdc.gov/healthyyouth/sher).  Click on Characteristics of Effective Curricula. 
a.  What is the purpose of the Characteristics of Effective HE Curricula?
b.  Of the 14 characteristics, which 3 do you view as strengths you will have in your classroom/curricula and which 3 do you view as areas of weakness?  Explain. A,C,E
3.  Go to CDC’s School Health Education Resources link (www.cdc.gov/healthyyouth/sher).  Click on the National Health Education Standards link.  Click on Order a Copy.  Use the information on this web page to identify the purpose of the National Health Education Standards and identify the national organization(s) involved in its development.

4.  Go to CDC’s School Health Education Resources link (www.cdc.gov/healthyyouth/sher). 
·       Click on Tobacco under the heading Topics
·       Click on Curriculum and Lessons under the heading Resource Types
·       Click on 6-8 under the heading Grade Levels
·       Click on Search
·       Read the description for each resource.
·       Choose one resource (lesson) and click on the title
